Lord of hosts

It's not Rio de Janeiro or Lisbon; this is Madeira's own Cristo Rei statue.

It stands on the edge of a small cliff in Garajau, a few streets below my apartment (I can see it from my terrace).

The statue is host to throngs of tourists by day, and at night it becomes the dominion of the wayward youth.

There's a certain symmetry to that.

Nice pics. What happened with you getting a digital camera from Tara - deal or no deal? I ask as obviously someone's birthday approaches...

The camera is forthcoming - I think she wants to get it on the way over here.
I will ponder birthday suggestions today. Sigh, it's a hard life...

ok ok you take a little longer than usual to buy a bloody gift and all of a sudden you are the antichrist.

Now .. off to get some sleep for the first time in a week, hence the snarly temper :)

Sick twins will do that dont you know. AND I drove to bloody Newry today to get their cough bottle, all the way to Newry... the things I do for my children. I'm getting a tshirt printed up.

They should have a statue of me up there, rather than JC

Ha ha - you're vey-ry self-absorbed! I'll see if I can start a petition on the statue front: JC is sooooo five minutes ago...
